CHÖD
Guitarist Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless develops a new sound in Chöd that tells an old story. We call it “sonic sadhana,” a spiritual journey expressed through music, light, and poetry.
The Tibetan word “chöd” means ‘to sever’ or ‘to cut off.’ In Chöd practice, one detaches from the ego by imaginatively cutting and offering one’s body. This is the story Isaiah conveys through his music, complemented and enhanced by Arik Moonhawk Roper’s animated visuals and lightscapes. It echoes themes from the Tibetan Book of the Dead and the Psychedelic Experience—encouraging us to face our fears and dissolve self-created illusions.
